Christmas Break

Life can’t be enjoyed without a couple of breaks meant to sit back, relax, and enjoy a couple of “free” days. Fortunately, I was able to meet up with my relatives this break and enjoy nice scenic hikes, eat delicious foods, and have nice entertainments.

Hiking is personally not my favorite thing to do, but when it comes to taking steps on a mountain with the ocean right next to it, then I’m in. The scenery was great in many of the Big Sur hiking trails. Greenery was clearly exposed in the trees, and the ocean’s tides were on a high rise; creating awesome images and a breath-taking scene as the waves crashed into humongous boulders of rocks. Also, we got a chance to see sea life as well. Up on top of the boulders were large seals, which were making loud noises that everyone could hear. In fact, I was lucky enough to spot some whales outside of shore. Spotting them was an easy task because it was easy to spot their blowing as they came up for air. Overall, this hiking trip was a blast.

Food, most of the time, decides the mood of almost anyone. Less food means anger, and more food results in peace. Going hiking for almost two and a half hours without eating a heavy breakfast can surely leave a man desperate for food. Unfortunately, that was the case now. Luckily, we were able to find a nice restaurant on top a mountain called Nepenthe (a drug used to clear memories). The food was great, and we also had a nice view on the ocean. Personally, the food I had there was probably the best I’d ever tasted.

Besides hiking and exposing to nature, we had a lot of entertainment as well. Playing board games, going bowling, and watching movies were all things we enjoyed in the break. It was really fun, and was a great way for family bonding.
