Damian Lillard is obviously close to being the Rookie of the Year. Coming from Weber State, drafted 6th overall from the Portland Trail Blazers, Lillard has proven to the fans that it doesn’t matter what school you come from. Damian’s whole life took place in Oakland, CA. He played for the Oakland Rebels when he was young.
Life for Lillard when he was young wasn’t that pleasant. He had friends who took drugs, and did a lot of violent things. Also, when he was little, he would shoot in the tree behind his grandmas house, but when the tree got cut down, his grandpa nailed a milk carton to a telephone pole, and he would shoot on it. Lillard said that once he got the chance to play in a REAL court, shooting was much more easier.
When Lillard made it to the NBA, he got notice from the Leagues fans by averaging 18 points (highest averaged by a rookie this season). Also, he won the Taco Bell skill challenge and played in the BBVA Rising Stars game. Damian Lillard is so far the best Rookie playing, if he continues his progress, he can easily be Rookie of the Year.
